Lamine Yamal has been named Men’s Young Talent of the Year at the 70th Ballon d’Or ceremony, held on Monday, October 26, 2026, at the London Palladium in London, England.
The Barcelona and Spain forward’s reported victory is a major talking point at this year’s ceremony, which marks the 70th anniversary of the Ballon d’Or, established in 1956 by French football magazine France Football to recognise outstanding individual performances in football.
Yamal’s award places the young Barcelona star among the leading emerging talents in world football as attention turns to the remaining honours, including the main Men’s and Women’s Ballon d’Or awards.
The London venue also pays tribute to Sir Stanley Matthews, the English football legend who became the inaugural Ballon d’Or winner in 1956.
According to UEFA, the 2026 ceremony brings the prestigious awards to the British capital for the first time, adding historical significance to the anniversary edition.
