Education and security are attracting substantially more online interest than the economy, inflation and healthcare ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 elections, according to #TrackingNaija2027Elections data.
Education accounts for more than 51% of recorded interest, while security attracts nearly one-third. By comparison, the economy accounts for 7.7%, healthcare less than 7%, and inflation just over 2%.
The figures indicate a significant gap between issues prominent in campaign messaging and those reflected in the monitored online information-seeking behaviour.
The findings suggest that voters are paying considerable attention to education and personal safety, alongside economic concerns, as they seek information ahead of the elections.
#TrackingNaija2027Elections is a collaborative project by CEREDEMS-AFRICA, University of Ilorin and RUDN University Institute of Geopolitical Communications, tracking electoral integrity and risks ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections.
